We are happy to announce that we are in a partnership with the Grosse Ile Educational Foundation to improve the displays inside and outside the museum. These exhibits will communicate the rich history of Grosse Ile to our students and community as we approach our 250th anniversary.
We also want to thank Accenture, APEX, the Class of 1962, DTE Energy Foundation, Grosse Ile Bridge Co., Grosse Ile Kiwanis Club, and Questers #618 for making generous donations to the Grosse Ile Historical Society.
Thanks also to Pella for the beautiful windows installed at the Customs House.
APEX refurbished our sprinkler systems.
Nick's Perfect Powerwashing striped and refinished the History Museum's entry doors and repainted the dining room in the Customs House.
Thanks to Charlie Compeau and crew for making our parking lot drive-able and walk-able again.
Baird & Lowler helped us restore and maintain the Grosse Ile Lighthouse as it is an Island treasure we do not want to neglect.
R.D. Electric helped the Society by rewiring its buildings and replacing light fixtures - we had been operating on some of the original electrical system.
Just like the electrical system, our plumbing system was archaic, or should we say historical. Mark Stanko and his team helped us bring it up to date.
Tom Montie used his artistic talents to re-paint the Depot and patch plaster in the Customs House.
Russ Boismier has made many contributions to the Historical Society including by not limited to installing the Recognition Tree to repairing the railings and steps on Customs House.
We are thankful to GLC Lawn, Landscaping, & Snow Removal for their beautiful work on the installation of the Grosse Ile Timeline.
DTE and Accenture matched funds contributed by many of their Island's employees, past and present. It is through the support of such individuals and organizations that we are able to preserve the very rich history of our Island home.
